General Information

Introduction

Wrentham’s Waste Reduction Program provides curbside trash pickup to all Wrentham residents living in single-family dwellings or in apartments or condominiums with eight or fewer units. The program utilizes a modified Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) system to encourage residents to recycle and reduce waste.

The Waste Reduction Program has the following goals:

  • Reduce solid waste management costs for households and the town
  • Increase waste diversion and recycling
  • Provide affordable solid waste services
  • Implement a more equitable system

Household Trash

Wrentham’s Waste Reduction Program allows each residence to put out one bag or barrel of trash for collection each week without charge. The free bag or barrel must meet the following size and weight limits:

  • Maximum volume – 34 gallons
  • Maximum weight – 40 pounds

You may use any bag or barrel that fits these guidelines. If your existing barrel is larger than 34 gallons, please place only one bag of trash in it. Please place your trash at least five feet from your recycling.

The following items should NOT be disposed of in household trash:

  • Recyclable materials
  • Yard waste
  • Tires, auto batteries, oil
  • Liquid latex paint (latex paint must be dried)
  • Appliances, metal items, electronics including computer monitors and TVs (see here for more information)
  • Hazardous materials (save hazardous materials for Hazardous Waste Day)
  • Appliances

Excess Trash

Excess trash must be placed in Town of Wrentham PAYT bags. The bags are purple and have the town seal on them. They are available at local grocery and convenience stores for $2 each, sold in packages of five. There is a 40-pound weight limit for these bags.

Excess trash that is not in Town of Wrentham PAYT bags will not be picked up.
